Challenges in the metal products industry
Metal has the characteristics of active chemical properties, and it is easy to chemically react with oxygen, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, water, etc. to become metal ions and be lost. This process is called rusting.
According to the different corrosion principles, it can be divided into chemical corrosion and electrochemical corrosion.
The so-called chemical corrosion is the corrosion caused by the direct chemical reaction between the metal and the substances it comes into contact with (such as oxygen, chlorine, sulfur dioxide, etc.) corrosion.
The so-called electrochemical corrosion is that a layer of aqueous solution is adsorbed on the surface of the metal in a humid environment. It forms countless tiny galvanic cells with iron and carbon in the steel, making it easier for iron to lose electrons and be corroded, while oxygen gains electrons. It turns into water again, and this more water causes the metal to corrode faster. Electrochemical corrosion is currently the main cause of metal corrosion, and moisture and oxygen are the main conditions for this type of corrosion.
Here are some of the challenges that the metal products industry often faces:

Breakthrough
It is difficult for metal products not to be exposed to oxygen, moisture or other corrosive factors in the air during use or operation. Even if anti-rust coatings are used or anti-rust components are added to metal products, it will only reduce or delay the progress of metal corrosion. To some extent, the current level of technology cannot fully deal with the problem of corrosion of metal products. The current demand for rust prevention is mainly in the storage and transportation stage to ensure that the metal products are in good condition when they are delivered to buyers.
The metal products industry (guns, engines, chariot components, ship components, radar equipment, auto parts, bearings, hardware, knives, etc.) usually use surface oiling or VCI technology to block the contact of metal surfaces with water and oxygen, inhibiting The occurrence of electrochemical reactions that lead to metal corrosion, so as to achieve the purpose of rust prevention. However, such a solution is not only time-consuming, but also has a high capital cost. This solution is not environmentally friendly due to the use of anti-rust oil or other anti-rust agents.
It is recommended to use our desiccant to solve the problem of corrosion of metal products during storage and transportation. The critical humidity of many metals is between 50%-80%, such as: steel is about 75%. If the ambient humidity is less than the critical humidity of the metal, the rate of oxidative corrosion of metal products will be much smaller. The desiccant can absorb excess water vapor in the environment, keep the environmental humidity in a dry state, can effectively inhibit the occurrence of electrochemical reactions of metal corrosion, and has low cost, safety and environmental protection.
